The Greatest Gift

For Christmas, this most precious time of gifting I give thanks to my Heavenly Father. This joyous time of the year is a priceless gift to you and me in memory and celebration of the One who bought the gift and paid the price of a loved filled sacrifice,so we may experience eternal life and His amazing grace!

From a babe, to boy,
to a man among men.
Lamb of God, Light of the world.
Part heaven, part earth,
no beginning, no end!
Eternal Jesus;
Heart healer,
Soul keeper,
My savior, my friend.

Two of our greatest gifts "the lamb" and the "light" found in John 1:29 &36 ~John 9:5
Merry Christmas

Great-Granny's Christmas Story

In the style my Great-Grandmother ( Kentucky colloquialism) would have told me~

So the Lord's promise came true, just as the prophet had said, "A virgin will have a baby boy,and He will be called Immanuel," which means "God is with us"!

As told in.....Matthew 1:22

Begins the greatest story ever lived:

And So...

I’ve been told and have read for myself that it happened somethin’ like this:

There was a young girl named Mary and she was in love with a young'n named Joseph and they're gettin' married soon. But one day a “Blesssed thing” happened to Mary, she met up with an actual angel. Mary was full of wonderment and confusion which was ok for she was truly blessed, and she knew it 'cause the angel told her so. The angel said for Mary not to be frightened because God had taken mighty notice of her and He had thought she had done nice things, and that pleased Him real good.

Now along about this time things get a little excitin' for Mary ‘cause the angel told her a “great thing”, "You, Mary are goin' to be havin' a baby, a baby boy, you are goin' to be callin’ Him Jesus, and He is gonna to be great and God is gonna to claim Him and that will make Him "King." He told her many other things, causin' her to sit down and really think about it. A son, with a Kingdom that goes on forever? No, not just her son but God’s son!  She must be dreamin'. “Wait a minute!" Mary just had cause to face the reality that she wasn’t wed, and she told that strongly to the angel. “Don’t be frettin’ now!” he said “God is gonna to take care of everythin',  His spirit's a comin’ down with His power that means your boy child will be the holy Son of God." Mary sat and pondered awhile and then she breathed out...long , “ I am the Lord’s servant, just let it happen!”

Shadows on Christmas

Shadows on Christmas
(a story)

In twenty two minutes, it will be Christmas again.

I stand in the silvered but tarnished half hidden light of a frozen moon, and wait expectantly. In the full light of the day, around half-past morning, my family will arrive, and the celebration will start.

Being too excited to sleep I made a mistaken effort to draw unconsciousness to my wired senses; I left my bed, piled high in goose down excess, pulled on stiff jeans my husband's wool work shirt and several shapes and sizes of heavy winter wear and headed outside.

Earlier in the week, we had decided to spend Christmas in the country, in the old family farmhouse behind Spice Knob Hill, the one we have been slowly repairing for use as a holiday place. We have repaired most of the cracks and the inviting secret entrances, so I feel comfortable; I can forget my earlier thoughts of fuzzy, furry things meeting me in the hall some night.
